Our Team

Hilary Opheim
Instructor and Owner

My name is Hilary Opheim and I have over 16 years of experience in the fitness community here in Houston. As a child I learned the importance of movement and activity with everything from dancing and gymnastics to swimming. I have taught aerobics, spinning, weight training and Pilates. I also spent years leading an MS150 team to Austin. I have found I am able to use the knowledge I learned in these other fields to really create a Pilates workout for everyone from the athlete to those just wanting to be able to stretch, get in shape or just feel good. I know from experience how Pilates can change your body and help with injuries you have as well as prevent them. I studied with John Gossett of the Physical Mind Institute and have continued to study and take workshops that range from Pilates to rehab for injuries.

"As an instructor I feel you should never stop learning and for me that is what keeps it fresh and fun not only for me but for my clients."

Michele Stamos

Pictured with me above, I have also known Michele for years. We taught together at the University Club and lost touch when I left. I had her in my mind as I opened up my studio but, didn't know how to reach her. She just happened to be driving down Washington Avenue one day and saw my awning at our first studio. She looked up the website and next thing I knew I had an email from her and I immediately had her on board. She studied with Michael King and has done numerous work with Stott Pilates.

Lindsey Jones

Monica came to Washington Ave PIlates with perfect timing. We were in need of another instructor to add to our family and we had just started discussing this when she called and asked if we needed anyone.  She is a certified Peak Pilates instructor and is always learning and growing as an instructor which is what we all feel is extremely important.

Kim Hummrichouse

Kim was working at Eastside Studio while I was training with John Gossett. Our paths crossed over the years and when she decided after a short break to get back to teaching Pilates she gave me a call. Kim has years of dance experience that led to her teaching Pilates. She is certified with Physical Mind Institute and has vast experience with clients

in need of rehab due to injury.

All of us here at Washington Ave Pilates are a family and we think of our clients as part of that family. It is very  important to each of us that the client feels the workout is just for them and that we care about their time here in our space. We take great care in helping our clients meet their goals and accomplish what they want out of their workout.
